Your Aestiva Array Desktop is a menu system for running and sharing browser-native applications.
Aestiva Array allows you to share files, HTML/OS databases, and browser-icons. Use the Share options in the File Manager, dbConsole and in the property popup screens for each menu (described below) to share a file, database, or application with a peer.
Terminology Browser-based applications can be simple web sites, links to dynamic browser-native programs stored on this copy of Aestiva Array or browser-native programs stored at one of your Aestiva Array peers.
Each browser-native application has an icon. The icons are placed in different menus. The name of the current menu appears in the upper left side of your Desktop.
To change icon menus click the down arrow to the right of your menu name and select a menu.
Global links are displayed on the upper-right side of your screen. The Global links do not change as you move between menus, which is why they are called Global.
The default Global links include File Manager, Help and Logout. Note: The Shared menu also has an Update Icons link. This link will retrieve all icons which have been shared by your peers.
Icon Pop-up Menu When placing your mouse over an icon, additional options are displayed in a pop-up.
Run in this Window - runs the icon in the current browser window
Run in New Window - runs the icon in a new browser window
View/Edit Source - view and edit the html code for the icon's launch file. If the file is scrambled or located in another account, this option is not available.
Share with Peer - share the icon with one or more network peers
Copy to Other Menu - copy the icon to another menu. Only available for icons being shared by a network peer.
Add Shortcut Link - add a shortcut to this icon in your Array Desktop header
Delete - delete the icon from the current menu. Not available when in your Shared menu.
Properties - view the icon's properties
If an icon has a to the upper left, the icon links to a browser-native application that can be accessed from outside of Aestiva Array using a special "Start-link" URL. To change this setting, click the Properties link from the pop-up menu.
If an icon has a to the lower left, the icon has been enabled in the network and possibly shared with peers. To change the settings for an icon, click the Share with Peer link from the pop-up menu.
The Control Panel To change the Desktop colors and backgrounds, date and time settings and other kinds of Aestiva Array settings use the Control Panel. Place your mouse over the name of the current icon menu to select the Control Panel. Once in the Control Panel, place your mouse over an icon and additional explanation about the setting is displayed.
The Shared Menu The Shared menu contains icons that have been shared by your network peers. Click Update Icons in the header to get any newly shared icons.
